TURNERS FALLS — The Franklin County Spring Parade will take place April 20 “on the hill” in Turners Falls.

“April is the time of the year when residents are fed up with being stuck inside after a long, cold winter. The melting snow and that springtime air give people that great feeling of rejuvenation,” said parade chairman Michael Nelson. “This parade helps shake off the winter blues and get people energized.”

Nelson is looking for organizations interested in participating in the parade. “We have an array of businesses, organizations, clubs, and bands coming, but we want more,” Nelson said. “We want to include everyone who wants to join us in this refreshing spring walk.”

The parade will make a three-mile loop, departing from the Sheffield building of the Montague Elementary School on Crocker Avenue at 1 p.m. The route runs from Crocker left onto Montague Street, then left onto Turnpike Road, past the Turners Falls High School and left onto Millers Falls Road. At Scotty’s Convenience Store, the parade will turn left onto High Street and end back at Sheffield.

Organizations interested in being a part of the parade can contact Nelson at 413-522-0712 or michaelnelsonmba@gmail.com.

Nelson encourages residents who live along the route to invite friends and family over to watch the parade from their front yards. For others, Nelson recommends the Turners Falls High School for its ample parking. In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be postponed until the following day.
