Music telethon to benefit GHS musicians
GREENFIELD — A music telethon has been planned to benefit and showcase Greenfield High School musicians.
The Greenfield High School Music Parents Association, GCTV and WHAI radio will present the 14th annual GHS Money For Music Telethon March 13.
This year’s telethon will be televised on GCTV, Comcast Cable Channel 15, and also broadcast over WHAI 98.3 FM, from 6 to 9 p.m. The telethon is one of the high school music program’s most important fundraisers.
The telethon evening will feature the GHS marching band, chorus, select choir, symphonic winds, jazz band, and others. Under the leadership of music director Paul J. Calcari, these students have performed at concerts, sporting events, competitions and in parades at UMass, Boston Symphony Hall, the Big E, Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens in Virginia and New York City.
Expenses incurred by the program include sheet music, instruments and repairs, transportation to events, competition fees, Drum Major & Mobile Percussion Camps at UMass and uniform purchases, repairs and cleanings.
Tax-deductible contributions, through checks payable to GHSMPA and forwarded to P.O. Box 394, Greenfield, MA 01302 may be made by March 1. Questions can be directed to Maureen Butynski at 774-3088 or: firstname.lastname@example.org.
