GREENFIELD — A single-car accident Sunday sent a local man to the hospital and left his car propped up on the remains of a small tree.
The driver, Edward Milkey Jr., 60, of 31 Warner St., was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, according to Greenfield Sgt. Kelson Ting, where hospital spokeswoman Jane Albert said he was in good condition Sunday evening.
Officer Jason Kratz said the cause of the crash, called in at 3:32 p.m., was unknown but likely medical.
Kratz said the car was driving north on Federal Street and veered across a lane of traffic.
The car struck a tree on the grass verge by the Forest Avenue junction, shattering the tree and deeply crumpling the passenger-side front end of the silver, late model Toyota Corolla sedan. The force of the crash partially uprooted the tree and left the car propped up on the stump and roots.
Kratz said Milkey was issued a warning for marked lanes violation.
