Letter: Scapegoating Mandela

In regard to a recent My Turn’s criticisms of Nelson Mandela, my question is: What world society did you expect one man, Nelson Mandela, to create? As written, he was not the messiah. The accusation that Mr. Mandela became a symbol and tool of the capitalist cabal and figure head statesman is to be polite, not true. The man gave up 26 years of his free life for his cause.

To the author: I understand you are frustrated by your two main goals — the lack of world democratic socialist government and destruction of the Earth’s resources.

To scapegoat Nelson Mandela as part of the problem with your unfulfilled goals makes little sense to me.
