Bulletin Board: A buck for Aukstikalnis brothers; Jamrog gets 2

It was a battle of the brothers in Orange on Tuesday.

Chris Aukstikalnis and Dan Aukstikalnis each brought in a buck to Grrr Gear in Orange late on Tuesday and Chris Aukstikalnis had the bigger trophy with a 150-pound, nine-pointer. Dan Aukstikalnis was right behind with a 132-pound, six-pointer.

Those were two of the deer reported on Wednesday as we hit the mid-point of Week 2 of the Massachusetts shotgun deer hunting season.

Kris Jamrog of Conway checked in a pair of deer to Sunderland Hatchery with a 153-pound, 10-pointer and a 95-pound, two-pointer.

Wrestling

Northfield Mount Hermon School went 2-0 in prep wrestling on Wednesday with a 46-26 win over Hyde School (Conn.) and a 48-16 win over Worcester Academy.

Jae Song (120), Colby Boudreau (138), Aidan Conroy (145), Nick Rodriguez (152), Jamison Dunn (220) and Adam Bloomer (285) all won two matchers for the Hoggers.

Basketball

Vanessa Udoji scored 22 points on Wednesday as NMH knocked off Deerfield Academy, 55-45, in a girls’ prep basketball game in Gill.

Sophie Gamarlo and Ruthann Zientek each scored eight points for the Lady Hoggers (3-1), which led by as many 20 points late in the second half.

Hockey

Deerfield defeated NMH, 7-1, in a boys’ prep hockey game Wednesday at McCollum Arena in Gill.

Colleges

Worcester falls

Dane Jobst scored a team-high 16 points on Tuesday but Worcester State University dropped a 63-58 decision to Clark University in a men’s basketball game in Worcester.
