Shelburne Falls medical groups make changes
SHELBURNE FALLS — Three medical practices within the Shelburne Falls area have moved or reorganized in recent months.
West County Physicians Inc. has added adult nurse practitioner Angel Russek to its staff, and now has two nurse practitioners to serve patients — Russek and Lauren Fox.
Russek’s specialty is to help patients ages 18 and over with chronic but well-managed health issues, such as diabetes, respiratory issues or high cholesterol levels.
Fox, a family nurse practitioner, assists those seeking complementary ways to improve and maintain good health. She is also available for homeopathic consultations.
Both practitioners are available for annual physical examinations and for women’s physical exams. Dr. Kathleen Grandison is West County Physicians’ primary care provider.
The practice is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The phone number is 625-9717.
After 25 years on Grove Street, Dr. Robert Miller and family nurse practitioner Anna Foster have moved their medical practice from Miller’s home office to a larger facility at 1000 Mohawk Trail, the former site of the former Blackmer Insurance office.
Their new practice is called Shelburne Family Practice and it offers comprehensive, personalized care for both new and established patients, ages 6 and older.
Miller said he moved his medical practice out of the Grove Street house so that he could share the home with his son’s family, which includes two grandchildren.
“The prospect of reclaiming the building as a private house rather than an office/apartment is wonderful,” he said.
Shelburne Family Practice is open by appointment Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with after-hours calls provided seven days a week. To schedule an appointment, call 625-6021.
Dr. Jane Willis, a former member of West County Physicians, has established a separate alternative medical practice at 10 Bridge St., called Great Welcome Healing Arts.
Willis specializes in integrative medicine, which includes dietary counseling, acupuncture, herbal medicines and support for making lifestyle changes for improved health. Willis has been a family practice physician for 25 years.
Thomas Schieffer, a clinical herbalist and Shiatsu practitioner, is a consultant who specializes in holistic lifestyle consulting, preventive maintenance, digestion health, food allergies and sleep.
Jeff Levin, a 25-year licensed massage and neuromuscular therapist, specializes in stress injuries, chronic pain issues, and sports-related problems.
He maintains a private practice in the Boston area and on Martha’s Vineyard. He was also a former coordinator of medical massage at Lemuel Shattuck Memorial Hospital’s Pain and Stress Relief Clinic in Boston.
