Letter: Fast on their feet
When Glen Cunningham ran the 4 minute mile 80 years ago, every track athlete and sports-page reader heard about it. Cunningham’s time would never be broken. No other runner in Cunningham’s heat was close when they broke the tape.
Little did the sports world believe then that Cunningham’s record book mile would ever be erased.
This track trivia came to mind shortly after I came as a resident of Charlene Manor here in Greenfield. Our nurse caregivers hustle up and down the halls as though officials held stopwatches to record their times.
We admire these young lades — for us they are all champions.
Three minutes or bust — girls. We’ll be keeping our eyes on you!
