Letter: In an emergency
May 19-25th is National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) week.
EMS providers include Paramedics, EMTs, First Responders, Firefighters, Police and Dispatchers. As the recent tragedies in Boston and Texas have reminded us, EMS providers play a vital role in our communities. Our EMS providers are ready to respond to an unexpected illness or injury at a moment’s notice. They often must put themselves in harm’s way to aid or rescue a patient. They use their skills and training to provide comfort, care and rapid transport when mere seconds can mean the difference between life and death.
As an ER physician at Hancock Regional Hospital and as the EMS medical director, I am very proud to work with such knowledgeable, dedicated and courageous EMS professionals. Please join me in thanking our EMS providers for the excellent care they provide to our community.
