Rabies clinic in Buckland on Sunday
BUCKLAND — There will be a rabies clinic Saturday morning, for dogs that need a vaccination in order to be licensed for this year. The clinic, at the Shelburne Falls Veterinary Center on Route 2, is from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $10 per animal.
All dogs must be licensed by March 31, or their owners will face a $5 fine. If their pets are not licensed by April 30, the owners face a $25 fine, according to Town Clerk Janice Purington.
Hawley town clerk
HAWLEY — Selectmen decided to appoint Administrative Assistant Virginia Gabert to the position of interim temporary town clerk, “to do what is vital and what needs immediate attention” until the board can appoint a temporary clerk who will serve the town through the April 30 annual town election and state primary election.
The board held a special selectmen’s meeting Tuesday to consider how to fill the vacancy left by former Town Clerk Lisa Turner, who abruptly resigned after the March 12 special election for a new selectman. Turner, who is Selectman Tedd White’s partner, announced her resignation after swearing-in election winner John Sears. She said she did not want to work with the new administration.
