“Buying the Farm” reading at Erving Library on Sunday
ERVING — On Sunday, author Tom Fels of Vermont will read from his book “Buying the Farm: Peace and War on a Sixties Commune, “a history of the Montague Farm commune from its late ’60s origins to its transformation to a Buddhist peace center in 2002.
The reading in the Erving Public Library, 17 Moore St., is sponsored by the Friends of the Erving Public Library as a precursor to a book discussion to be held April 4.
A limited number of free copies of the book will be available during the reading, scheduled for 2 p.m., and the paperback edition is available for purchase from online retailer Amazon.com for $24.95, although organizers caution that “Buying the Farm” is a common title.
Copies can also be reserved through the library system at bark.cwmars.org with a C/WMARS library card. The library is open Sunday 1 to 4 p.m., Monday 1 to 7 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday 1 to 7 p.m.
All Erving Library programs are free and open to the public.
