United Way donates 262 bags of food to families

GREENFIELD — The United Way of Franklin County has wrapped up its latest “Supper for Six” campaign, distributing 262 bags at food pantries last month in an effort to help families during the February school vacation.

“So many families get free or reduced meals, (so vacation) puts a real additional burden on families,” said Executive Director Linda Stacy.

It is the fifth year the organization has run the drive, collaborating with Community Action and Franklin County Community Meals Program to give people an additional bag of food at pantries in Greenfield and Orange.

Deerfield Elementary School, Bement School and Yankee Candle collected money and food for the drive.
