Bulletin Board: Merrigan drops hole-in-one
Cam Merrigan will never forget Tuesday.
The Greenfield native recorded his first career hole-in-one by acing the 144-yard, fifth hole at the Country Club of Greenfield.
Merrigan used a pitching wedge as John Johnson and Mason Turner looked on to attest the rare feat.
Teresa Varner shot a 74 to win the A Division gross during the “Substitute Par for Two Worst Holes on Front Nine and Back Nine” Tournament during the Ladies 18-Hole Golf League at the Country Club of Greenfield on Tuesday.
Margo Worden won low net in the A Division with a 62.
Sandy Ruggeri won low gross in the B Division with an 87, while Alane Smith and Nikki Welsh tied for low net at 59.
CFC Men’s First Flight
David Crisafulli and Bill Young tied for low gross with a 251 to win the First Flight during the Crumpin-Fox Club Men’s Club Championship over the weekend in Bernardston.
The First Flight results were not included as part of the results sent to The Recorder that ran in Tuesday’s edition.
Jordan Haskell won low net with a 208. Dick Barnes came in second at 222.
Edge Hill Men
Lewis Goodnow won low gross in Division A with a 36 and won the point quota for the week at plus-7 during the Edge Hill Golf Course’s Men’s League Tuesday in Ashfield.
Mike Wall won low net with a 32 and was closest to the pin on No. 10 at four feet.
Mike Earl won low gross in Division B with a 42, and Peter Zale won low net with a 33. Both Zale and Earl led the point quota for the week at plus-4.
Deerfield Smart Start
The Deerfield Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its Start Smart Soccer Program.
The program is open to children ages 3 & 4 and their parents and is restricted to Deerfield residents only as it has just 15 slots available. Start Smart Soccer was created by the National Alliance to help kids get ready for sports and succeed in life. The program runs at the Old Deerfield Baseball Field on Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m. and runs from Sept. 8 until Oct. 13. Cost is $40.

Orange Youth League
The Orange Recreation Association will hold registrations for its K-6 Outdoor Soccer League at the Orange Recreation Soccer Fields at the Orange Airport.
The registration sessions will run on Thursday and Friday from 4:30 to 7 and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. Registration fee is $15 for Orange residents and $20 for out-of-town players. Fee includes a T-shirt.
