Rte. 63 Roadhouse re-branding with new owner
MILLERS FALLS — Change is in the air for the Route 63 Roadhouse.
The Montague Board of Selectmen this week approved the prospective new owner’s application for a liquor license transfer from the current owner, sending the application on to the final arbiter — the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.
Susanne Rogers of Easton told the board she intends to purchase the bar, to be run by her son, Sean Keller, pending a successful license transfer.
“We plan to re-brand the Roadhouse,” Roger said.
Changes are to include a remodel of the interior, a new heating system and a new name: Pioneer Tavern. Rogers said food will be introduced, as well as a new draft beer system and a focus on micro-brews. Rogers said she intends to keep the live music and dancing that seem to have worked well for the Roadhouse. Rogers also said she intends to restore the upstairs function room.
The 32 Federal St. establishment most recently changed hands in 2010, reopening after a month-long closure with Jessica Gershman of Millers Falls taking over from Carol Cameron and Jamie Snyder, proprietors since 2003.
The bar is one of two in Millers Falls, and a short walk from micro-brewer Element Brewing.
