One of Franklin County’s most familiar faces will be leading the Franklin County Fair parade on Sept. 4. Greenfield Town Councilor Penny Ricketts has been chosen as this year’s parade grand marshal.

“There are few people who exert the exceptional amount of love for the Town of Greenfield as Penny. She bleeds green wave,” said Michael Nelson, parade director.

Nelson said she was chosen because of her dedication to public service, including being a councilor, human rights advocate, and Rotarian. “Whether you agree or disagree with her politics, no one can deny her passion,” he added.

“I am so honored by this. I love Greenfield, I love the people here, and I love the Franklin County Fair,” said Ricketts.

The 35th annual Franklin County Fair Parade kicks off at 5 p.m. from the Greenfield Middle School and ends at the fairgrounds. Details about the fair can be found at www.fcas.com.
