Arts Walk Saturday in Shelburne Falls
SHELBURNE FALLS — While Dorothy and Toto “follow the yellow brick road” Saturday night at Pothole Pictures, art lovers will be following hand-painted shoes that lead to dozens of shops, restaurants and art galleries participating in this summer’s Art Walk, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Here are some highlights:
∎ “Glass Bash” at Salmon Falls Artisan Showroom. Eleven local glass artists, including gallery owner Josh Simpson, exhibit their work. There will be live music and local wine from Pioneer Valley Vineyard of Hatfield.
∎ Molly Cantor’s Pottery will feature “Collective Fire: Women Who Fire with Wood” — diverse new work from nine potters who practice the art of wood firing to create functional pottery and sculpture.
∎ The Shelburne Arts Cooperative is hosting a “Sweet Sixteen Party,” a group show.
∎ JH Sherburne Fine Art Gallery and Serious Whimzy Gallery will feature photo-assemblages of found objects, “travel scapes” and life desserts “inspired by messages in fortune cookies.”
∎ The Art Garden, located near the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum, has an opening celebration for a community exhibit, with all works inspired by the village’s famous Bridge of Flowers.
Many other shops within the walkable blocks along Bridge and State streets will have special events, music and treats that evening.
Come early, then you, too, can see the 1939 “The Wizard of Oz,” at Memorial Hall, on the large screen. Admission is $6. The film starts at 7:30 p.m., with live music a half-hour beforehand.
