Tractor Supply breaks ground in Orange

ORANGE — The lot next to Newcomb Motors on New Athol Road in Orange is being leveled in preparation for a 19,097 square foot Tractor Supply Store.

According to Frank Alexander, the project director for the contractor hired to construct the store, it should be completed by the end of August. Building Inspector Brian Gale says the construction company is busy clearing brush and debris in preparation for the foundation. He says the permits should have no problem going through and actual building will begin soon.

Tractor Supply Company representative Michael Graham says the Orange location was decided upon because of the number of part-time and hobby farmers, as well as horse owners, in the area. The firm’s products include lawn, garden and animal care items that will service the needs of those customers.

Not only will the store provide equipment for local residents in the market, but also job opportunities, according to Graham, who says Tractor Supply Stores usually employ between 12 and 17 full- and part-time team members.

According to Alexander, a contractor who has built other TSC stores, signs will be posted in the store windows by midsummer with contact information on who to call for job openings. The store manager, who will most likely come in from another location, will then begin meeting with local applicants. Until that time, interested parties can apply online at www.tractorsupply.jobs.

The Orange store is tentatively slated to open to the public in late September.
