Whately library to hear parenting expert
WHATELY — Parenting expert and author Bill Corbett will speak at the Whately Public Library on June 3 at 6:30 p.m. on “How to Raise a Cooperative and Resilient Child or Teen.” He speaks about why young children seem to push your buttons at the most stressful times, and why teens become resistant and talk back when parents feel they do so much for them. Corbett offers ideas parents can begin using immediately and a better understanding of why children behave the way they do.
Corbett is the author of the award-winning parenting book, “Love, Limits, & Lessons: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Cooperative Kids.”
Corbett is also the executive producer and host of the public access television show Creating Cooperative Kids, seen on the public access channels in most Western Mass. communities. He is a Hatfield native and writes the column “Love, Limits and Lessons” for The Recorder’s Valley Kids publication.
With a degree in clinical psychology, Corbett provides coaching and training to parents and professional audiences across the country. He sits on the board of the Network Against Domestic Abuse and the Resource Advisory Committee for Attachment Parenting International. His practical experience comes as a father of three grown children, a grandfather of two, and a stepdad to three. This event is free and open to the public, but the library is not fully accessible.
The library is at 202 Chestnut Plain Road. For more information, call 413-665-2170.
