Letter: Unsung heroes
The front-page photo of dogs waiting for the postal carrier was priceless. Postal workers are unsung heroes. Rather than complain about postal rate hikes, I celebrate them! Correspondence is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and you can first-class mail something for a fraction of the cost of dark chocolate. Where else can one find such a satisfying deal? After you’re gone, will your loved ones marvel over the emails and texts you sent, or will they treasure cards and letters they can hold in their hands and press to their hearts? Hooray for the postal service and its workers, including my own carrier, who handed me my mail and smiled on a day when virtually everything else was closed due to a snowstorm. He said, “Have a great day!” as he jauntily went on his way. And I did: I opened my mail and had a great day.
