Lake Pleasant man faces attempted murder charge
LAKE PLEASANT — A Lake Pleasant man faces attempted murder and other charges after he allegedly severely beat his ex-girlfriend during an argument last week.
Montague Police charged Domenic G. O’Connor, 33, of 30 Massasoit St., Lake Pleasant, with domestic assault and battery, intimidating a witness, and attempt to commit murder.
Montague Police Staff Sgt. Christopher Williams said the assault allegedly occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 13 in O’Connor’s home, also occasionally the victim’s address, and police learned of it the afternoon of the following day.
“They got into a domestic, he assaulted her, she received some bodily damage due to his punches, and when she could, she reported it to us,” Williams said.
After reporting the incident, the woman’s parents took her to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, where she was treated and released, Williams said.
Williams said the woman wrote out a statement, in which she recalls saying something to the effect of “please don’t kill me” during the beating.
Montague Police looked for O’Connor Friday and learned that he was at an address in Amherst, Williams said. Amherst police arrested O’Connor Saturday after a foot chase.
