Garden Cinemas plans April events

GREENFIELD — The Gardens Cinemas on Main Street is planning several events in April:

■On Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m., the theater will offer a free showing of four Three Stooges shorts featuring Larry Fine, Moe Howard, Shemp Howard and Curly Howard. The shorts are: “Disorder in the Court,” “Brideless Groom,” “Malice in the Palace” and “Sing a Song of Six Pants.”

■On Monday, April 3, as part of the First Monday Silent Film Series, the Garden will be showing the 1924 anti-Nazi satire film “The City Without Jews” at 6:30 p.m. followed by a short discussion about antisemitism led by the Greenfield Human Rights Commission. The film will be accompanied by live music from Alicia Svigals on violin and David Sosin on keyboard.

■On Saturday, April 8, the Easter Bunny will visit the Garden between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. for parents to bring children for free photos. They can also watch a free 30-minute feature “It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown” at 11 a.m. At 10 a.m., there will be a screening of Irving Berlin’s “Easter Parade” (1948) sponsored by The Olde Highway Bookshop in Deerfield.

■On Wednesday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m., the Garden will show Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman’s 2017 art film “Loving Vincent,” the world’s first oil-painted motion picture. Goose Divine Energy will set up shop at the theater and feature a selection of faux van Gogh paintings.

■Stop by the theater at 10 a.m. on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, for a free showing of “The Lorax” (2012) sponsored by the Greenfield Police Association. After the show, pick up a blue bag to join in Greenfield Middle School science teacher Judy Bennett’s annual citywide efforts to clean up litter. Bags can be disposed of for free with the Greenfield Department of Public Works.

Starrett names new sales, marketing director

ATHOL — The L.S. Starrett Co. has promoted Michael Connor to sales and marketing director for North America, industrial products.

“We are pleased to have Michael to step into this new role,” Emerson Leme, vice president of Starrett Industrial Products, North America, said in a statement. “Michael has been with Starrett since March of 2020, and in that time he has ably managed our portfolio of strategic accounts. Mr. Connor also held a sales management position with Starrett from 2002 to 2006. We are confident in his ability to grow the sales of our broad range of products in North America.”

In addition to his experience at Starrett, Connor’s sales and marketing background includes managing industrial, construction and retail distribution channels in North America. Before joining Starrett in 2020 as strategic account manager, the Winchendon resident directed sales and marketing efforts at a diamond tool company and at a New England supply company. Prior to this, he had a 10-year progressive tenure at Apex Tool Group, formerly Danaher Tool Group.

Eversource recognized as 2023 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year

SPRINGFIELD — Eversource has received the 2023 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy.

This award is bestowed to ENERGY STAR partners for demonstrating consistent and outstanding leadership in delivering energy efficiency solutions. This is the third year that Eversource has won in Massachusetts, eighth year in Connecticut and the 10th year in New Hampshire.
