Bulletin Board: Greenfield Middle School boys, girls sweep Hopkins

Amber Bergeron dropped in 24 points to lead the Greenfield Middle School girls’ basketball team to a 38-13 win over Hopkins Academy Tuesday.

Aneesa Brewer and Angie Rivera had 4 points each, while Brie Widelo powered the defensive effort for Greenfield. The squad improved to 2-1 overall with the victory.

• In GMS boys’ action Tuesday, Sam Gibson scored in double figures with 10 points to lift the Green Wave to a 55-19 victory over Hopkins.

Khalil Brown chipped in 8 points, while David Carey and Drew Conant each scored 7 points in the win.

Ryan Cote, Bob Provost, Deion Brewington and Ryan Pulizari paced a strong defensive effort.

Turners 5/6 sweeps pair

Joey Mosca and Andre Widmer scored 8 points each as the Turners Falls Elks captured a 36-26 win over Williamsburg in a grades 5 and 6 Suburban League boys’ basketball game Saturday in Turners Falls.

Hugh Cyhowski scored 6 points and pulled down 20 rebounds in the win, while Caleb Thomas added 5 points for Turners.

• In action on Friday, Cyhowski and Widmer both poured in 10 points to lift Turners to a 37-23 win over Gateway.

Cameron Burnett added 6 points, while Mosca tallied 4 points.

Turners 7/8 edged

Logan Addison dropped 16 points and Brendan Driscoll added 14, but Turners Falls fell to South Hadley, 48-45, in a grades 7 and 8 Suburban League boys’ basketball game Saturday.

Jake Lavin contributed 5 points in the loss for Turners.

• Elsewhere, Matt Crossman scored 9 points, all on 3-pointers, but Turners dropped a 32-31 decision to Hatfield on Friday.

Addison scored 8 points for Turners, followed by Cayden Lehtomaki with 5 points and Levin Prondecki with 4.

Youth hockey

FCHA mites win

Chase Zraunig lit the lamp for 6 goals and added an assist as Franklin County Hockey Association Green captured a 9-7 win over Holy Name in a Greater Springfield League mites hockey game Saturday at the Olympia Ice Center in West Springfield.

Carter Schloat scored a goal and dished out three assists, while Desmond Drake also tallied and finished with three markers. Nico Siano (goal, assist) and Asa Bouchard (two assists) also contributed offensively, while Jay McGinnis recorded 16 saves in net.
