Bulletin Board: Greenfield JV icemen fall to St. Mary’s, 10-3

St. Mary’s Parrish School built a 4-2 lead after one period and Greenfield High School was never able to recover as it fell, 10-3, in a junior varsity hockey game Saturday night at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.

St. Mary’s dropped the varsity program prior to the season to play a JV schedule. The Saints scored three times in both the second and third periods.

Porter Clancy and Kyle Devlin each scored in the first period, and Clancy got his second goal of the night midway through the third to complete the Green Wave scoring. Adam Savoy and Kyle Barnes each had an assist in the loss.

Jordyn LaVallee suffered the loss, with Tony Wozny and Cam Rice playing well defensively.

• On Wednesday, Barnes and Martin Given each scored but Greenfield fell to Agawam, 6-2.

Sam Battisti and Matt Wilhite each had assists in the loss.

Youth basketball

Pioneer 7/8 wins

Four players hit double figures Saturday as Pioneer defeated Hatfield, 65-27, in a grades 7 and 8 Suburban League boys’ basketball game.

Pioneer built a 31-11 halftime lead. Ryan Potter led the offense with 15 points, while Jaylen McGraw finished with 14. Joey Brook netted 12, Jared Hubbard tossed in 10, and Sam Glazier chipped in 8.

Pioneer 5/6 wins

All 10 Pioneer players scored Saturday during a 42-19 win over Gateway in a grades 5 and 6 SL game in Northfield.

Shawn Turner paced the balanced offensive attack with 6 points, while Will Glazier and Ben Werner had 4 points each. Ethan Mauthe had four blocked shots, and Kaitlyn Trudeau pulled down 12 rebounds.

Youth hockey

FCHA Mites split

Vinny Grima scored three goals and two assists Sunday but Franklin County Hockey Association suffered a 16-9 setback to Nonotuck in a Greater Springfield League Mite Division game Sunday at Amelia Park Arena in Westfield.

Max Caron had two goals and an assist in the loss, and Bryce Zraunig had a pair of goals. Mylena Prunier and Grace Laurie finished with a goal apiece, and Charley Knight picked up an assist. Patrick McCarthy made 12 saves.

• On Saturday, Grima scored eight goals and added an assist as FCHA topped Ludlow, 23-10, at the Olympia in West Springfield.

Prunier had a 10-point game with six goals and four assists in the win, while Colin Galli finished with four goals and three helpers. Zraunig potted four goals, Caron had one goal and one assist, and Ryan Capen chipped in two helpers.

Knight had 14 saves to pick up the victory.
