Northfield Mountain

Studies in Migration: 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 8. Conservation biologist Jenny Smetzer and the Northfield Bird Club offer insights into migration and stopover behavior of songbirds, as well as foraging movements of breeding terns. Learn about tools for tracking migratory animals and a new collaborative research network to enhance understanding of wildlife movement. Free.

Migrating Fish, Mills and More: 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 19. Join staff from the Turners Falls Fishway for a free guided walk. Learn about the journeys of migratory fish as they travel upriver during their spring spawning run. The walk will also focus on the fish ladders that help fish bypass the dam and the history of mills along the canal. Meet at the entrance to the Turners Falls Fishway along the canal-side bike path, 15 First St., Turners Falls. Total length of the walk is a half-mile along flat terrain. All ages welcome. No pre-registration required.

Mass Audubon

Eastern Meadowlark Survey: Mass Audubon launched a multi-year citizen science project to study Eastern Meadowlarks. The project aims to collect presence-absence data about the birds at randomly selected sites throughout Massachusetts until June 15. Tully Lake Campground

Tully Adventure Packs: Offered every Saturday through May 26. Explore the habitat of the Royalston campground by looking for lake critters, identifying plant species and learning about water ecology. Each pack includes a variety of activities to inspire outdoor creativity. $5 to $10. Check in at the ranger station to get a pack.
