NORTHAMPTON — A Millers Falls man who crashed his pickup truck on North King Street near the Hatfield town line Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. was arrested a short time later on a series of charges after fleeing the scene on foot, according to Northampton Police.

Christopher M. Fournier, 41, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger, leaving the scene of property damage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered vehicle and illegally attaching license plates.

The crash took place in a wooded area near the Massachusetts Department of Transportation District 2 building, police said.

Both the State Police Air Wing and State Police K-9 responded, locating Fournier a short distance away in Hatfield, where he was taken into custody without incident.

In a Facebook post, Northampton Police thanked the responding agencies for their assistance.
