No coverage

I am getting older, so I thought maybe I’d missed something, so I looked through The Recorder again on my iPad. Nothing on 9/11, on 9/11. This morning-9/12, there was a couple of things on local folks having remembered.

I am a retired performer. Working on the house, the land, doing martial arts and playing music. I am Vietnam-era veteran. We were shunned and maligned after the war until 9/11. Well, ‘nough rambling. Point is that in 2002 my troupe, The Wright Brothers 3 did a clandestine performance at Camp Kieve in Nobleboro, Maine.

The camp was closed to the public for a week. The folks there gave a free week to families of 9/11 victims and survivors. I believe it is still happening, but at any rate it went on for subsequent years. We received a standing ovation. Everyone in tears. Such a good cause. So blessed to have been a part of it.

So the question looms — why nothing in my home newspaper? A Facebook friend suggested “liberal news media.” I’m not prone toward politics or religion, and I’m not interested in either sticking their nose in my life. Another Facebook friend recounted all the deaths that followed through our wars in the 18 years post hence.

The victims had nothing to do with our government’s response. It’s news. It happened and it still effects us all.
