A low-flying passenger jet

My memory of Sept. 11, 2001 was that I was on Hatchery Road in Montague. It was a beautiful bright blue sky day. I was installing a chain link fence for a customer I had just installed a pool for with my crew.

We got on the job about 7:30 a.m. It was about 15 minutes on the job I noticed a low-flying passenger jet on the Deerfield side of the Connecticut River. I didn’t think too much about it; but thought that it was unusual.

About an hour later the customer “Bob” came out of the house and said, “You’ve got to check this out! A plane flew into the Twin Towers.” We couldn’t believe it.

Not long after that another one hit the towers and the hair on my arms got goose bumps.

I told everybody on the crew we are leaving at noon and calling it a day. I really thought that jet I saw was the one that came from Boston that day.
