Follow leash law

Many folks may not know there is a law in Greenfield which states that all dogs must be restrained while walking in the parks. The only exception to this is Paws Park on 22 Petty Plain Road.

I am a 77-year-old woman who walks in the parks on a daily basis. I’ve been jumped on, bitten, scratched and charged by barking dogs many times. Owners often simply say, “He’s friendly.”

My brother and I were given permission by the dog control officer to post signs in Highland Park regarding the leash law.

Several days later, my brother walked past eight dogs, only two of which were on leashes. Please inform owners they need to respect the law. Failure to do so may result in their dogs losing their licenses.
