I am writing to respond to a My Turn column written by Joan Livingston, Editor-in-Chief of the Recorder. I was sorry to hear of her sudden illness, and hope that she will make a complete recovery. Life truly can change in an instant.
I agree that her editors have been doing a fine job keeping up with all of the news. Their writing skills are commendable.
The part of her column that I take exception to is in the final paragraph. She wrote that the Recorder always reports the news accurately, fairly and objectively. The Recorder is anything but fair or objective.
The content of national news is nothing but article after article disparaging the Republicans, President Trump and The United States of America. The political cartoons are always negative, and once again do nothing but insult our president and our country.
It appears that your paper has joined the rest of the mainstream media who can only find negativity in everything. Perhaps you don’t realize that everyone who reads the Recorder is not a Democrat. There are many people in Franklin County who are Independents or Republicans.
Do you really think that what is printed in the Recorder is not biased? For those of you who may be reading this and disagree with me, I suggest you go back and reread several issues of the Recorder.
