Whipps does show up

I’ve known Rep. Susannah Whipps my entire life. Her mother, Polly Whipps was my grandmother. Her grandmother, Libby Cooke was my great-grandmother. We were taught the duty of compassion and service to the community by both the words and actions of these exemplary women.

This week, while watching the State Representative and Franklin District Candidate Forum on AOTV, I was struck by the insinuation made by her opponent, Mr. LaRose that Susannah Whipps, doesn’t show up for her constituents.

Like myself, Mr. LaRose was a New Yorker until the current pandemic made us both full-time constituents of the 2nd Franklin District. So, I excuse him for not knowing Susannah’s history of showing up for our community. A history that began for her long before she ran for office. A history that began in my family, many generations before she or I were born. A history the people who live in the 2nd Franklin District have been touched by and know well.
