James Lengieza: Breast Cancer Research stamp sales a major success

Every day the U.S. Postal Service contributes a percentage of breast cancer research stamp sales to charity, and we really ramp it up for October. District Manager Mike Rakes even challenged our district that if we sold over $1 million of stamps, he would dye his hair pink for a day.

While we did not hit the million-dollar mark, we were the No. 1 district in the country. And, out of over 19,000 window clerks, our local clerk Colleen Verderosa ranked 28th for sales in the country.

As well as thanking Colleen for her contribution, I would like to thank the local community as well. If it wasn’t for our generous and caring customers, we would not have been able to be successful. We had many people come back and ask if we were maintaining our No. 1 position and offering to purchase more stamps to help us capture that title.

It was all in great fun, and here we are a week later still talking about it and thinking up ideas to be No. 1 again next year. Thank you everyone for not only contributing to our success, but for contributing to a great cause that affects many people and their families.
