Our schools in Greenfield have needed a champion for some time and finally have one. When the current mayor’s budget cut $1.5 million from the school department’s proposed budget, the community was outraged. Parents, students, teachers, friends gathered together to let the City Council know that this was unacceptable. This was an affront to our children’s learning experience and thus their future. Something had to be done! Ginny Desorgher, in her role as city councilor, heard them and was able to find in discretionary pockets of money nearly $1.2 million that went back into the school budget. DeSorgher’s qualification for mayor is clear: she is accountable to our children’s education, she is accountable to problem solving with the people of Greenfield and she has her and our priorities straight. I will be proud to vote for DeSorgher on Nov. 7 and hope you will too.
