Razvan Sibii, a senior journalism lecturer at UMass, wrote a My Turn stating that the southern border isn’t open [“Is the southern border open?” Recorder, Nov. 24].

The border is a catastrophe. The fact is the Biden administration is allowing millions of illegal immigrants to enter the U.S. each year, most unable to speak English, without skills, and carrying diseases. A bad criminal record and a history of mayhem are not a problem with President Joe Biden; everyone gets in. They are living in our hotels at taxpayer expense with no plans of returning or assimilating into American culture. With Biden’s policies, we are becoming a Third World country.
