Thank you Hawley

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the people of Hawley for your support and confidence in electing me to a third term as selectman. It has been a great honor to serve Hawley in this capacity for six years already and I am looking forward to the next three. One hundred and thirty-two voters turned out to make your voices heard on May 2. This turnout reaffirms what we have long known: though Hawley may be a small town, our residents are very civically active and deeply committed to the democratic process. The future of our entire nation depends on you, and those like you, in all our towns and cities, continuing to stay involved and make your voices heard. To my supporters and those who assisted with my campaign, you have my eternal gratitude. To those who didn’t vote for me, I wish to reaffirm what I have said many times before. I am willing to listen to anyone’s views or concerns with an open mind if they are willing to share them. You might change my mind, or you might not, but I’ll do my best to understand your point of view and the reasons behind it. The great thing about a small community is that a leader really does have enough time and “bandwidth” to be able to learn something from everyone. So let’s take Hawley forward and make the next three years a memorable and positive chapter in the history of our great town. It is up to us to make that happen. We will make it happen.
