The recent letter [“Will vote for Republican whether indicted or not,” Recorder, Sept. 7] is full of many of the lies and misstatements that fill Fox News and Truth Social. President Biden didn’t start the war in Ukraine but has led the non authoritarian nations in providing aid to a free people against a former KGB miscreant. Trump began the withdrawal from Afghanistan by announcing it in advance and then left it for Biden to deal with it. The unemployment rate is lower under Biden than it has been in years, wages are increasing and his signature infrastructure bill is rebuilding bridges and tunnels across the country. He is trying to pass measures to help prevent further climate degradation in the face of almost total Republican denial that there is a climate emergency.

Trump’s totally incompetent way of dealing with the pandemic cost millions of lives and sank the economy. The ravenous capitalists of our U.S. economy are using the supply chain lies to boost prices. Exxon and the other oil companies are recording record trillion dollar profits and the ultra wealthy who support Trump and Republicans laugh at the working and middle class in this country. Tell me in which states have police forces been defunded? Steps have been taken to try and correct the aberrant behavior of a number of police forces who shoot first even in minor traffic stops. We are now faced with a possible government shutdown because two dozen deranged congressman are out to prove their allegiance to one of the worst persons and leader this country has ever had, Donald Trump. God Save America from that disaster occurring again!
