No. The southern border isn’t open. Not even close. At least this is what we are being told by columnist Razvan Sibii [“Is the southern border open?” Recorder, Nov. 24].

Tell that to Elizabeth Sullivan and Jim Steinle, whose daughter, Kate was cut down in the prime of her life by Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, birth name Jose Garcia Zarate. If the border was secure, the seven-time convicted felon wouldn’t have been able to simply waltz through seemingly at will on six different occasions.

Tell that to the train car loads of mostly young men heading north thinking they were invited by Joe Biden. A majority of Americans see an “invasion” at the southern border, an NPR poll found last year.
