I’m writing this letter in praise of our local hospital, Baystate Franklin Medical Center. I went to the Emergency Room at 6:30 a.m. of Nov. 22. After several days of feeling horrible, I had no choice but to give in.

From the front desk receptionist, who quickly recognized my condition, to the greeter who took me in, from the doctor who admitted me, I was treated with great care, courtesy and kindness. My companion was also greeted and kept in the loop all day long.

It was seamless. I was diagnosed, my problem and the plan for treatment were carefully and clearly explained, and treatment was started. My nurse, Lexie, was so helpful and kind, as were everyone else involved with my care.

When, later on, I was able to be placed in a room, the same kindness and care were shown to me. My nurse, Jodi, was right there, as needed, as were the various other medical personnel involved. It was Thanksgiving Day by then, being on a liquids-only meal plan, I was kindly offered chicken broth, which I finished off with orange flavor frozen ice.

When my discharge orders were signed, the transporter was friendly and nice, as I was wheeled outside to the car. We each savored the sunshine.

I just needed to say that we are so fortunate to have this wonderful, modern hospital in our own backyard. The caring people who work there, in whatever capacity are superior individuals and should always be respected and thanked for what they do every day.
