The Charlemont Inn should be reopened

Imagine a rural community where residents are spread out and isolated, a place with very few common areas for community members to interact. Then Imagine that one of those places closes, leaving residents with even fewer common locations, which in turn makes it even more difficult for residents to meet and connect with each other and with their community. The Charlemont Inn should be reopened because of its significance to the community and its economic value.

Before it closed, The Charlemont Inn was a staple in its community, acting as a meeting place for residents in an otherwise isolated area, as well as a destination for tourists coming for the foliage and outdoor recreation. It’s also a historic landmark, having been open and running since 1787. One of the most significant benefits of reopening the Charlemont Inn is the economic impact it has on the community. The Inn could provide jobs for many local residents, which helps to stimulate the local economy. The Inn also will attract tourists and visitors to the area, which brings an increase in revenue, allowing local businesses like Berkshire East and Zoar to flourish.

Leaving The Charlemont Inn abandoned is a waste, and helping to get it reopened should be a high priority for the town. We should be pressuring our local government to put plans in place for reopening the Inn and helping it to become the thriving business that it once was.
