Why no signs for EV chargers on Pike?

When I drive the Mass Pike, it upsets me to see so many signs for gas stations at every exit, but none for the EV High Speed chargers that no one knows about.

When I talk to people about EVs, I’m told they’ll consider buying one when there are chargers out there. So I’ve set about finding who in Massachusetts is responsible for signage and how to get “charger logos” up on the Mass Pike “Gas/Food/Lodging” signs.

I’m told that if I want to find chargers, just get that phone app thing. I explain that my interest is educating gas car drivers that chargers already exist, and you can find some at this exit, and this one, and this one, too. And these chargers actually work as opposed to the single broken charger at Mass Pike rest areas.

Sometimes someone cares, but then they send me the application to apply for a sign as long as it’s for Gas/Food/Lodging. One person reviewed the regulations and agreed they needed updating, but he’s too busy working on the closing of the Sumner Tunnel.

The state has a mission to increase EV sales and money from federal grants. There are teams of people deciding where to place new chargers, but no one’s concerned that we have no signs on the Pike (and other highways) for the chargers that are already out there. Don’t you Love bureaucracy?
