Nuclear war

The human race cannot survive a nuclear war. A nuclear war would, within weeks if not days, envelop the entire world in a fatal cloud of radioactivity. I don’t think even the alt-right, as exemplified perhaps by Tucker Carlson, would deny this if asked directly, though they would probably try to avoid answering the question.

Once a nuclear weapon is deployed, escalation is inevitable. A nuclear attack anywhere will trigger an unstoppable cycle of retaliation by the victim and its allies. The question must always be asked: what happens next? Unless Vladimir Putin is even crazier than he seems to be, he will not use a nuclear weapon in the Ukraine war.

Nuclear war is a threat because of the possibility of miscalculation or of misbehavior by rogue actors. It should be off the table for any rational world leader. Idealism has no place in this discussion, which is why the activities of peace groups are actually counterproductive. Don’t just think of the children; think of everyone. World survival is at stake.
