Proud of Franklin County Pride

Thanks to the Greenfield Recorder for your continuing coverage of the first ever Franklin County Pride.

We had an immensely successful event on Saturday, June 24 with nearly 400 marchers from the Greenfield Middle School and over 500 gathered together at Energy Park for the rally.

The day was sunny and hot with a mild breeze and we were so grateful to have Bart’s ice cream there selling scoops, along with several icy coolers of water that were provided for attendees. The entertainment and speaker line up went off without a hitch, our raffle prizes were awarded by end of day, we sold out of all tee-shirts, and lots of information was disseminated from various local social organizations including Community Action, Rainbow Elders, the Salasin Center and the League of Women Voters.

The energy was high and our message of pride, solidarity and celebration were echoed from the stage, on signs and banners carried by marchers, and from the enthusiastic cheering crowd. Pride chairs, Trouble Gouch Mandeson, Pam Parmakian and Michelle DeLisio send our gratitude and appreciation out to our committee members, volunteers, community partners and, most especially, those businesses and individuals in Franklin County (and beyond) who sponsored the event and donated raffle items.

We couldn’t have done it without every single person who participated in the planning, execution and sponsorship and to all we say, “We’re here, we’re queer, we’re Franklin County Pride.” See you all in 2018.
