SHELBURNE — The state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, for the seventh year, is stocking brook trout Wednesday in Dragon Brook, which runs through Shelburne Center, and local children and their families are invited to come and help.

According to Robert “Bo” Warren of 38 Bardwells Ferry Road, activities start at 10 a.m. Fisheries biologist Brian Keleher will give a short talk about the fish, the stocking program and about the ecology of the river.

Warren said, “people attending in the past have ranged in age from 4 to 90 years old.” And those attending can take pails containing the 5- to 6-inch long fish down to the brook and release them.

Along with an old-fashioned fishing derby, Warren said, there will be an open fire, hot-dog-on-a-stick cookout.

“All in all, it’s a great day on Dragon Brook enjoying nature. Bring a friend and enjoy a truly fun and educational day,” he said.
