Registered democrats in Sunderland will hold a caucus on Saturday, June 1 to elect delegates and alternates to the 2019 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention.

The caucus will be held at 10 a.m. in the Community Room at the Sunderland Public Library.

This year’s state convention will be held Sept. 14 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, where thousands of Democrats from across the state will discuss party business, put forward new ideas for state-wide Democrats to consider and prepare for the 2020 elections, according to a press release.

The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Sunderland. Pre-registered young Democrats who will be 16 by May 11, 2019 will be eligible to participate and to run as a delegate or alternate. Sunderland can elect one female and one male delegate, as well as one female and one male alternate to the Convention.

Youth, people of color, people with disabilities and LGBTQ individuals who are not elected as a delegate or alternate have the opportunity to apply to be add-on delegates at the caucus or at massdems.org.

Attendance at the caucus is free to all registered and pre-registered Democrats.
