Warwick Free Public Library displays posters for women’s suffrage anniversary

WARWICK — On Aug. 18, 1920, American democracy dramatically expanded with ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, prohibiting the states from denying the vote on the basis of sex. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, the National Archives Museum created the exhibit “Rightfully Hers: American Women and the Vote,” highlighting the relentless struggle of diverse activists throughout U.S. history to secure voting rights for all American women.

According to Librarian Ivan Ussach, starting this week, a series of four educational posters from the exhibit is being displayed outside the Warwick Free Public Library (when it's dry) during normal hours – Monday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,  Tuesday 1 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Patrons are invited to view the posters the next time they visit the library, or are just passing by.  A link to the first poster can be found here. The number in the URL can also be changed to view the other three posters. The complete online exhibit is available at through Jan. 3.
