GILL — Townspeople can take up 25 articles at the Annual Town Meeting tonight, including a $1.6 million operating budget and $1.6 million in contributions to the Gill-Montague Regional School District.

When all of Gill’s expenses are accounted for — operating, education and capital costs, among other miscellaneous items — the overall budget is roughly $3.7 million in fiscal 2020, an increase of 1 percent from the current year.

The town’s operating budget is $1,624,717 in fiscal 2020, an increase of 3.2 percent or $51,051 from the current budget year.

Voters will also be asked to approve a contribution of $1,642,995 to the Gill-Montague Regional School District in fiscal 2020, up nearly 1 percent from the current year.

The town’s budget for the Franklin County Technical School is $175,085 in the current year, up 16.1 percent because enrollment rose from 10 to 11 students.

The town is set to vote on a series of costs for capital projects and other expenses. Among them: $4,656 to purchase and equip a truck for the Gill-Montague Regional School District Facilities Management Department and $5,330 to replace sidewalks and curbing at Turners Falls High School.

Other articles

Residents will vote to permit the Selectboard to enter into a 10 year contract with a recycling company selected by state Department of Environmental Protection, starting July 1, 2020.

Townspeople will also vote to establish a special revenue fund known as the “Public, Educational and Governmental Access and Cable Related Fund,” as part of state General Law.

Also on the agenda is an article that would establish a Fire Department Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) stabilization fund.
