‘Music & Verse in a Sacred Space:’ Sunday at 4

DEERFIELD — The First Church of Deerfield, “the Brick Church,” will hold “Music and Verse in a Sacred Space,” Sunday, Jan. 21, at 4 p.m. The event will feature choruses from Deerfield Academy and the First Church of Deerfield. Readings will be from the local author Amy Gordon. The church is at 71 Old Main St.

‘Mystery, Stillness:’ Sunday at All Souls

GREENFIELD — On Sunday, Jan. 21, at All Souls UU Greenfield at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Adele Smith-Penniman will preach “Mystery, Stillness,” dipping into such Buddhist concepts as being present in the moment, letting go of expectations and welcoming the paradoxical with a bit of joy. Religious education will be offered for children. The church is on the corner of Main and Hope streets.

Arts & Activism: Sunday at Bernardston Unitarian Meetinghouse

BERNARDSTON — This Sunday, Jan. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Arts & Activism at Bernardston Unitarian Meetinghouse hosts a Bernardston Cultural Council-sponsored Pastel Art workshop, “Monet’s Waterlillies,” with artist Greg Maichack. Economic Justice series: Jan. 28

GREENFIELD — All Souls Church (399 Main St.) is addressing issues of Economic Justice this year. On Sunday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m., the Sunday service will be followed by a discussion circle led by Dr. Stephen Martin, MD, on “The Most Shocking and Inhuman: Health Care Inequality and the Need for Social Justice.” Dr. Martin is a family physician at Barre Family Health Center, associate professor at the UMass. Medical School, and a member of the “Right Care Alliance.” He and his family live in Northfield.

‘Brick Church Music’ returns Feb. 4 with Eclectic Arts Trio

DEERFIELD — “The Brick Church” Music Series at The First Church of Deerfield, 71 Old Main St., will present its third concert of the season on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. The Eclectic Arts Trio with Jean Jeffries, French horn, Aaron Lakota, oboe and English horn, and Clifton J. Noble Jr., piano and organ, will be performing music across the centuries and genres. Interspersed with classical fare will be arrangements from The American Songbook. Suggested donation: $10 to $20. Coming Saturday, Feb. 10: Love & Chocolate concert

NORTHFIELD — Enjoy love songs, a singalong and a profusion of chocolate treate at the third annual Love and Chocolate concert, Saturday, Feb. 10 at 3 p.m., at Trinitarian Congregational Church, 147 Main St., Northfield. Concert features Jeff Olmsted and the a cappella group “On That Note,” Patter Field and Ted Thornton, plus special guest Grace Olmsted. Suggested donation: $12.
