Golf Fitness Training: Shane Foster, golfer and YMCA Exercise Trainer, will be conducting a four-lesson golf preseason fitness class. Participants will learn balance, stretching, and core stability exercises in order to improve their golf game. The dates are Thursdays, April 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be two additional classes at the Northfield Golf Club. YMCA and Northfield Golf Club Members $40; Non-members $60. Family Swims: Family swims are a great way to introduce 1- to 3-year-olds to the water, improve swim skills and endurance of older children, and have fun together. The swims are free with a Y family membership or an $18 per day fee for two adults and their children. The times are Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Sunday from 3 to 3:45 p.m. for children 6 months through 5 years old, Monday, Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., Friday at 7:15 p.m. and Saturday at 6:15 p.m. Y family memberships are sold on a sliding fee scale from $20-$66 per month paid by bank draft. Trivia Night Fundraiser set for March 30. The Y, in conjunction with Baystate Franklin Medical Center oncology department, now offers Live Strong which is a free exercise program for cancer survivors and those dealing with cancer. Because the program is free, the Y needs to fundraise to sustain the program. On Saturday, March 30 at 7 p.m. the Y is hosting a Trivia Night at the Greenfield Moose Club with all the proceeds going to Live Strong. The fee is $15 per person with 8 to 10 people per table. People can sign up as a team or the Y will add people to a table. STUMP Trivia will be providing the questions and a fun night. Please bring your own snacks. Healthy Bones and Balance: This class, which is taught by Marsha Staples Love and Ann McGrath, helps the participants build their bones and muscles with light weights. All exercises are done in a chair or with the support of a chair. The class is free for everyone and the Y is wheelchair accessible. To register, call Jayne at 413-773-3646 ext. 448. Classes Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon. This class is provided by RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Persons) of Hampshire & Franklin Counties and the YMCA in Greenfield.

Summer Camp: The Y’s 2019 summer camp brochure is now available at the YMCA or at ymcaingreenfield.org. The Y has two indoor camps (gymnastics and sports) at the Y, and outdoor Camp Apex. The camps are for boys and girls ages 5-14. Children do not need to be Y members to go to camp. There are also half day and specialty camp options as well as early and late childcare. Registration is now in progress for all camps. Financial aid applications will be available April 1. Call 413-773-3646 ext. 0 for more information.

Yoga Classes: The Y offers 12 yoga classes per week, all free with a Y membership. There are four levels to choose from including yoga for chronic pain to Vinyasa yoga. Class schedules are available at the YMCA or ymcaingreenfield.org.

Chronic Pain: Over 20 percent of adults are living with chronic pain. The YMCA has many programs that help participants lower or improve their pain levels. Some of the programs include yoga, water therapy and water fitness classes, chair fitness, enhance fitness classes, and Nautilus. People can contact Dawn Dorsey at the Y at 413-773-3646 ext. 428 for a free wellness consultation, or get a free referral from their primary care provider for the Y’s Prescribe the Y program.
