COLRAIN — While he didn’t register to have his name on the ballot, lifelong resident Kevin Worden won the constable position in Tuesday’s election, garnering 116 votes in a write-in campaign.

The 237 voters who cast their ballots made for an 18% voter turnout at the polls.

No position was contested with registered candidates, but several write-in candidates — including newly elected Selectboard member Emily Thurber, who received 173 votes to fill the position being vacated by Mike Slowinski — emerged ahead of the election.

Worden beat registered constable candidate Jonathan Lagreze, who received 99 votes. Worden, who already serves as deputy fire chief, said his family has been invested in public safety and the community, “so I figured it was my time to step up.”

“I hope to do the job they elected me to do,” he said. “I would also like to congratulate Jonathan for running.”

The results of the remaining races, which were all uncontested, are as follows:

■Library trustee, three-year term — Cheli Mennella, 210 votes.

■Library trustee, three-year term — Cynthia McLaughlin, 208 votes.
