ERVING — Write-in candidate James Loynd has been elected to a three-year seat on the Selectboard, beating out nominated candidate Daniel Watson to highlight Monday’s town election results.

Loynd defeated Watson, the only candidate on the ballot running for the open three-year term, by a vote of 77-56. He will take the seat of Selectboard member William Bembury, who opted not to seek reelection upon his term’s expiration in 2023. Bembury has served on the Selectboard since 2014, according to Town Clerk Richard Newton.

Additionally, incumbent School Committee members Erik Semb and Katelyn Mailloux-Little retained their seats in the ballot’s only contested race. With vote counts of 88 and 103, respectively, they defeated nominated candidate Mark Blatchley, who earned 68 votes, to secure the two seats with three-year terms that were up for election.

Notably, the race for a one-year term on the Planning Board, which only featured write-in candidates, resulted in a tie between Laura Bezio and Brandon Breault, who each received three votes. As a result, “the position will remain vacant until either the next election or if an appointment is made at a joint meeting of the Planning Board and Selectboard at some point during the year,” according to Newton.

Other positions

The results of the remaining races, which were all uncontested, are as follows:

■Assessor, three-year term — Erik Eichorn, 117 votes.

■Treasurer, three-year term — Jennifer Eichorn, 116 votes.

■Library trustee, three-year term — Kelly Loynd, 49 votes.
