WHATELY — The Community Preservation Committee will hold a public meeting on Wednesday to review the projects recommended for Community Preservation Act funding that will come before Annual Town Meeting voters for approval on June 15.

The remote meeting will start at 5 p.m. via Zoom, which can be accessed at bit.ly/3euHb5I.

According to a Community Preservation Committee press release, the projects being recommended include $75,000 for a library accessibility project that would involve installing a lift and creating an accessible restroom, among other improvements; and $21,000 for a Veterans’ Memorial Park project that would include rehabilitating the existing park with new plantings, a low stone wall, granite benches and additional stones to commemorate veterans of other wars.

Whately has received a 100 percent match from the state for its fiscal year 2020 Community Preservation Act tax collections, bringing the total that the town has gotten from the state to $825,000, according to the release. The committee is anticipating about $180,000 in both state and local revenues for the current fiscal year.

The release states that at least 10 percent of each year’s Community Preservation Act revenues must be spent or set aside for historic preservation, 10 percent for open space and 10 percent for community housing. The funds can also be spent on certain recreation projects.
