Flu clinic planned for Saturday

CHARLEMONT — The Hawlemont Emergency Dispensing Site (EDS) will offer a drive-thru clinic at the Charlemont Fairgrounds from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

“It is also a practice drill for eventually, hopefully, distributing a COVID vaccine,” Betsy Kovacs, chair of the Heath Board of Health, said of the drive-thru format. She suspects administering a COVID-19 vaccine, should one be successfully developed, will be “a massive undertaking.”

Those who wish to participate in the flu clinic must complete an insurance form and screening form, available at bit.ly/2G9esnX, as well as review an information sheet. Also bring your insurance card or a paper copy of it to the flu clinic. If you do not have billable insurance, the fee is $20 for adults and $10 for children.

Another flu clinic will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the former Heath Elementary School.

With questions, contact Betsy Kovacs at 413-337-5346. There is no need to register in advance.
